Our parent guidance sessions are 30 minute 1:1 virtual sessions that provide parents with the tools to aid their child's speech, language, and/or feeding development. These sessions are meant to guide parents and do not take the place of speech and/or feeding therapy.
In some cases, traditional speech therapy alone may not provide the optimal avenue for a child to express themselves effectively. This is where Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) steps in as a revolutionary tool. AAC encompasses various methods and devices designed to support individuals with communication difficulties, allowing them to bridge the gap between their thoughts and expression. Our experienced speech language pathologists understand that each child's unique needs require personalized approaches. Through comprehensive assessments and a deep understanding of a child's capabilities, we might recommend AAC solutions to enhance their communication skills. By harnessing the potential of AAC, we empower children to communicate confidently, fostering a sense of independence and enabling them to connect meaningfully with the world around them. Witness the transformative impact of AAC in unlocking your child's full communicative potential with our dedicated team of speech language pathologists.
If your child is at least 6 months old and has a diagnosis that is likely to affect their verbal communication skills then they are ready for AAC to be introduced and used within their everyday lives!
Using play-based techniques and gentle therapeutic strategies, we help retrain the nervous system to support more effective oral function. This phase is crucial for babies and children who struggle with suck-swallow-breathe coordination, oral restrictions, or muscle imbalances affecting speech and feeding.
Ultimately we focus on integration and long-term progress. Whether it’s enhancing comfort during feeding, improving oral-motor coordination for clearer speech, or fostering sensory regulation, this phase is about achieving optimal function. Our goal is to support smoother transitions, quality of life, and better overall motor development—including improved feeding, swallowing, and speech clarity.
By addressing feeding and speech challenges at their source, we help children thrive with greater ease, confidence, and comfort in their communication and nourishment.
